About the piece: Tall squared lidded coffee pot with a smooth body displaying the rarer large single level scene. Printed in dark royal blue / Zaffres blue on cream earthenware. Gadroon borders on rim and lid. Impressed flower pattern on handle and knob. Backstamp dating in the 70’s or early 80’s. Holds about 32oz. About 8.25” tall, 8.5” long, 4” wide. Made in England. No condition issues.
About the pattern: introduced in 1814, the “Tower” pattern (sometimes referred to as “Spode’s Tower”) pictures the Ponte Salerno bridge near Rome. It was derived from a book by Merigot 'Views of Rome and its Vicinity' published c1796-1798). It was produced until about 2008 and adorns a wide variety of items including dishes and housewares.
