This is an authentic antique Limoges covered cup made by Charles Field Haviland (CFH) and decorated by Gérard, Dufraisseix & Abbot (GDA) in France between 1890–1905.
A rare and unusual form, a cup permanently attached to the saucer and a fitted domed lid with hand-applied gold on the finial and rim. This shape is associated with trembleuse / invalid / consommé cups, designed to keep the vessel stable when serving broth, chocolate, etc.
The decoration is a double garland of pink chrysanthemum blossoms:
• a thin outer ring of tiny pink flowers
• an inner band of larger mums in soft pink shades
• brushed gold along the scalloped outer edge
Both factory marks:
• Red/orange “Chas Field Haviland”
• Green GDA France decorator mark
These marks were used together only in the late 19th century.
Condition:
Excellent for age. Small chip in outermost edge of saucer, some tiny age spots (visible in photos), age-appropriate wear. Will ship securely & insured. Measures 5.75in across
